The items listed here are books and articles that deal with quaternions.  Many of them are of historical interest.  Much of the pertinent writing on quaternions was produced in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

I have copied most of these resources from other sites which may be consulted for further references.  In many instances, the material has been processed to make it easier to use, largely by rendering it into a single PDF file where it was a series of GIF files on the original site.

You might wish to consult the original sites, especially the Cornell Mathematics Department site, where many of these texts can be purchased as hard copy.

An excellant resource for old mathematics texts

Kuipers, J. B. Quaternions and Rotation Sequences: A Primer with Applications to Orbits, Aerospace, and Virtual Reality. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press, 1998.

A good modern text for learning about quaternions, especially as they relate to aerospace and computer graphics.  The link takes you to the listing on Amazon.com .  The reviews are interesting to read for themselves.

This is an excellant site to find papers by Hamilton.  A number of the shorter papers listed below were prepared by Dr. Wilkins, the author of this site.
